Ones To Watch – Avanté

Avanté’ -” To move forward/onwards.”

A goal set by the four members of a Glaswegian Alternative Rock band that are currently working hard on creating a sound that will give listeners a reason to stay with them. Exactly what music should be doing. Compromising of Ryan Osborne, Jordan Osborne, Craig Mullen and Blair Stewart, the four piece have been keeping eager music fans keen with their studio updates and music teasers.

I was lucky enough to get in touch with Avanté and ask them some questions for all current and future Avanté fans!

For current and new fans of Avanté tell us all what the idea behind the band is, where the name comes from and what encouraged you to get together?”

“The idea behind Avanté (or what we hope comes across) is passion really, we love making music together and try to make things sound as big and as anthem-like as possible.

Ultimately we’re trying to make the best music we can together for people to listen to and to give our fans a reason to stay with us, everything else is secondary to us.

Avanté means “Onwards” in Portuguese, which made sense for us given that we all have a history with previous bands, we liked the ring it has to it as well “ah-van-tay!”.”
“What’s the inspiration behind the music and influences behind your style?”
“As far as our influences are concerned, they’re fairly scattered. We’re very interested and inspired by the Glasgow music scene and the direction it’s moving in.

When applying for festivals recently, we were asked the same question, we said we find ourselves somewhere between Fatherson and Arcane Roots but basically we have our own style we can’t quite sum up. We can only ask you check us out to find out.”
“You recently played in Pivo Pivo along with Sea of Crowns, what was the overall feedback/reaction you received?”
“We were overwhelmed with the response, we had a really good turn out for our first show and the other bands playing were just awesome. We couldn’t have asked it to go any better.”
“Finally, what can we expect from Avanté in 2014?”
” In 2014, we plan to release our debut single alongside a music video. Then possibly do another single and release an compilation later this year. We’ve been fairly prolific in our writing so far and are eager to release our music for people to hear, we’ve had a great response online so far.
Show wise we plan to gig around Scotland some more, do a single launch show in Glasgow after the summer and hopefully start playing down south later in 2014/early 2015. So we’re busy, busy!”
Good music comes from Artists who work hard with their craft and if you follow the band online or know them in person you will come to realise the effort gone into their future releases. Avanté will be a band you will want to know first, hear first and watch live whenever possible!
